Instructions

Cut all pattern pieces from pattern pages. Snowman pattern prints on multiple pages and will need to be taped together. Match up the letters and use as guide to tape the pattern together. Tape along the dotted lines.

Pin the snowman body pattern to double layered burlap fabric and cut along the pattern line. Pattern includes a 1/2” seam.

Pin the fabric pieces together stitch along the seam line, leaving the bottom of the snowman open, removing pins as you stitch.

Stuff with polyester stuffing through the open bottom.

Fill a plastic sandwich bag with 1 cup of sand or kitty litter.

Insert bag into the bottom of the snowman. Be sure the bag is sealed tightly!

Pin the snowman bottom pattern to a single layer of burlap fabric and cut along the pattern line.

Pin and stitch the bottom of the snowman to the body by hand. Stitch across a couple of times to really secure. Burlap likes to fall apart around the edges.

Let’s make the hat!

Pin the hat base and hat top patterns to a single layer of black felt fabric and cut one.

Pin the hat rim pattern to a single layer of black fabric and cut two. Cut the hole in the middle as well.

With fabric right sides together, pin the rim pieces and stitch along the outer seam line. This is a 1/4” seam.

Reverse right side out.

Next, stitch the base of the hat. With fabric right sides together, stitch side A to side B.

Reverse right side out.

With fabric right sides together, pin and stitch the bottom of the hat base to both layers of the inner edge of the hat rim by hand.

Reverse the hat wrong side out.

With fabric right sides together, pin and stitch the hat top to the top of the hat base. Remove pins as you stitch.

Reverse right side out.

Stuff the hat with polyester stuffing. This will help keep it’s shape after it’s glued to the snowman’s head.

To make the scarf, cut a piece of red felt fabric 24” long and 1” wide. To make the crinkled edges, you’ll need to cut the fabric with a pair of crinkle cut scissors. Otherwise, just use normal scissors for a straight edge.

To make a twig arm, twist two brown pipe cleaners together. Repeat three more times so you have a set of four. Take one set and wrap around another set about three inches from the top to form the branches of the twig. Keep wrapping it down another inch and form another branch of the twig. Trim off any excess and use it to form another branch on the other side. Repeat to form the other arm.

To make the nose, pin the nose pattern to a single layer of orange felt fabric and cut one.

With fabric right sides together, stitch side A to side B leaving the bottom open. Reverse right side out. Use the pencil end of an eraser to help reverse.

Fold in about 1/2” of the fabric on the open end of the nose and stuff with polyester stuffing.

Let’s put the snowman together!

Using a craft knife or the edge of a pair of scissors, cut a tiny slit on each side of the snowman where the arms will go. Insert the bottom of one of the pine cleaner arms into the hole so that about 6 inches remains exposed. Hot glue by the hole on each side to secure.

Hot glue three buttons to the snowman’s body.

Place hot glue around the open rim of the snowman’s nose and glue it to the center of his face.

Hot glue the hat to the top of the snowman’s head. Wrap the scarf around the neck.
