Free Octopus Pincushion
Handmade gifts are always special, and what better way to show your love than by creating a unique octopus-shaped pincushion for your favorite seamstress? Whether you’re an experienced seamstress or a beginner, this project is both fun and functional!
Materials Needed
Octopus pattern pieces. Click here to download and print pattern pieces.
Two 9” x 12” sheets of felt fabric
Polyester stuffing or ground walnut shells (shop here)
Two plastic google eyes
Hot glue gun (to attach google eyes)
Sewing machine and basic sewing supplies
Step-by-Step Instructions
Cut Fabric Pieces
Cut the pattern pieces from pattern pages.
Pin the body pattern to single layered felt fabric and cut 4.
Pin the bottom pattern to single layered felt fabric and cut 1.
2. Stitch octopus head
With fabric right sides together, stitch two octopus heads along the left side of the head.
Repeat with remaining head piece stitching body #2 to #3, #3 to #4 and finally #4 to #1.
Reverse right side out.
3. Stuff and attach bottom
Stuff the head with polyester stuffing
Pin the bottom fabric to the bottom of the octopus covering the opening of the head.
Hot glue along the edges to seal closed.
Glue the google eyes to the front of the octopus using a hot glue gun.
Insert your favorite pins into the head and set this cutie down to spruce up your sewing space!
